From the supplier: Self-managed work teams are groups of employees tasked with monitoring and reviewing a product or process in a firm and coming up with solutions to problems they encounter. Chevron applied the concept to its Western Production Business Unit with certain modifications. These included orienting teams around quality improvement and work processes, employee empowerment and letting teams focus on a single process. The teams have been credited for instituting process improvements in automatic well tester service, chemical pump repair and sub-surface pump use.
