Go to redhat's sight and familiarize yourself with the exam [..]
If you really want a good book to prepare for the RHCE, get Michael Chang's RHCE Study Guide (latest version). That guy knows his stuff. Also, don't expect to pass the exam just by studying that book. Get 2 computers, make one a client and the other a server or use vmware to do the same. Go through each section of the book by setting up each the various client and server services reviewed. Practical experience and doing the work on live systems is the only way to pass the RHCE exam (there is no multiple choice on this test, only practical application...you can either do it or you can't do it). After you are done with the book, shell out the money or try to get your employer/mom/dad/whomever to pay ($2300+ ouch!) for the Rapid Track Redhat class. It is worth every penny. With that done, you have a 60% chance of passing the test the first time you take it. You can actually fail the RHCE and come away with a lesser certification, the RHCT. But, that is no fun, is it?
Believe it or not, I just gave you more useful info than you get from that crappy book. I saved you some money. Good luck and may the Shadow Man (Redhat's logo) be with you.

This book is like attending a pep rally for RHCE candidates. After reading the first ten pages, the rest of the book is just reiteration of the same. Several times I found myself reading lines or ideas that were covered a few pages before, making me wonder if I had lost my place in the book. There weren't really any new ideas that lead to "Ahh Ha! moments".

This is a nice booklet for someone who has never used a study guide or taken any previous training along the CompTIA, LPI, Microsoft, or Cisco training certifications.
I was pleased to see that it covers the RHEL5 version of the exam, so it is up to date (as of this writing). Many of the "Tips and Tricks, and Much More" are little more than few common sense approaches to taking any performance-based test (know the material, be well rested, etc). There are some typographical and contextual errors, however minor; it could have used one more technical editor's review before publishing. I'm assuming it's self-published.
As a study guide it come up short. Many chapters are only 2 or 3 pages and in many cases the last page may only have 1 or 2 lines. Some illustrations would have made for nice filler. The book could be helpful for a person who has a strong Unix Server background and may be questioning if there is enough knowledge transfer to pay the cost of the exam. I was hoping for some examples of "Practice Exams and Braindumps" but the better answer would be; "google for it". It's a moving target.
Yes, there are 100 Success "TIPS" on RHCE Linux Test Preparation in this booklet, but the so-called "Secrets" are already out on the web. Many of them are at https://www.redhat.com/certification/rhce/
It's a good value, used or as a reference for Linux trainers to share with students.

DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK! Mine just arrived today and I was absolutely shocked at how completely worthless and absent of ANY useful information this book was. I felt like I was scammed. The "Success Secrets"?? You mean secrets like "search the internet for example questions", or "attend the appropriate exam preparation course", or "take RHCE Linux courses and training"?? <-- those are some of the "secrets" that are revealed. The author suggests searching internet for example questions or video study guides (duh), and doesn't give one single recommended website. The guy is basically telling you to use google to find some example exams--that's his helpful "secret" advice. To give an example of how completely devoid of any useful information this book is, let's take the Chapter titled "The Books that Will Facilitate Better RHCE Learning". So you'd think there would be a list of recommended books, right? Nope. What the author writes is: "There are many books available online or at bookstores...", then goes on to say "Apparently, these books are quite expensive to buy.". That's it. I'm not joking, THAT. IS. IT. Not one single recommended book in this section. Just a stupidly obvious suggestion that you look online or in a book store for a good book. The whole book is like that! There is one section that's entitled "The Top 3 tips for taking the RHCE exam" and those tips are to make sure you read the course content, to make sure you know what you need to do to register and where you need to go so that you won't be overly stressed, and get some ideas from previous takers. Wow, I'd NEVER have thought of any of those tips myself! Wow, that was certainly worth the money I just shelled out for this book. Please do NOT waste your money on this book, it's a scam.
